Proposition S passed in the City of St. Louis, but the small tax increase proposition to benefit seniors failed to win a majority in St. Louis County and St. Charles County.
I would expect to see this back on the ballot in the counties in a couple years as it has been shown to be very effective in cost-effectively delivering meaningful services in nearly half of Missouri's counties including for 10 years in the greater Kansas City area.
Thanks to all who supported and voted for this measure. Seniors in the City of St. Louis will begin to see increased benefits from existing organizations starting in 2018.
This Saturday morning Aging America Radio will examine the issues surrounding "Proposition S", a tax increase initiative on the ballot in the St. Louis metro area next Tuesday, November 8th. Proposition S will implement a small tax increase to increase basic services for seniors. Tune in at 10am on Saturday, 11/5, on St. Louis' 1260AM The Answer.
Click on the picture or link below to watch a well-done, touching TV news report from Minneapolis about the little stresses that can add up to big stresses for seniors and their family caregivers alike. Proposition S is designed to provide more community-based help for cases just like this.
